Snowpiercer Expanded to 354 Screens in US

The Korean sci-fi film "Snowpiercer" expanded to 354 screens in the United States on Friday.

The film’s overseas distributor, CJ E&M said the movie will also be offered to American viewers through the “super premium video on demand (SPVOD)” service also beginning Friday.

Through this service, viewers can watch a new movie on VOD as well as in theaters, unlike the regular VOD service that offers films three months after the release on screen. It is the first time in the U.S. that a movie released in over 350 screens can be viewed on SPVOD at the same time.

The movie directed by Bong Jun-ho was released in Korea last year. It opened on eight screens in the U.S. on June 27 and expanded to 250 screens a week later.
