Germany Wins 2014 FIFA World Cup

Germany defeated Argentina 1-0 to win the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
 
Mario Gotze scored the winning goal in the eighth minute of the second half in the final match held at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
 
The latest victory marks Germany’s fourth World Cup title and the first victory since 1990. It is the first European country to win a World Cup held in South America.
 
Germany's Manuel Neuer won the World Cup Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper, while Argentina’s Lionel Messi won the FIFA Golden Ball for best player. Colombia’s James Rodriguez grabbed the Golden Boot award for finishing top scorer at the 2014 World Cup.
 
The next World Cup games will be held in Russia in 2018.
