The two Koreas will hold working-level discussions this week regarding North Korea’s participation in the Incheon Asian Games.
Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Eui-do said Monday that Pyongyang accepted Seoul’s counter-proposal to hold the meeting on Thursday at the truce village of Panmunjeom.
The North sent the agreement through the Panmunjeom liaison office Monday morning.
At the meeting, the two Koreas are expected to discuss a range of issues, including travel details for North Korean athletes, the size of the North Korean cheering squad, the expenses for the North Korean delegation’s stay and the possible torch lighting ceremony at Mount Baekdu.
North Korea made the first proposal last Thursday and asked to hold the working-level talks around July 15. Seoul responded Friday with an offer to meet on July 17.
The proposed meeting follows the North’s announced plan to send 150 athletes and a cheering squad to the Incheon Asian Games.
