North Korea has blasted the United Nations Security Council’s condemnation of the North’s latest launches of short-range missiles.
 
In a statement issued by its Foreign Ministry on Saturday, the North said the Security Council’s criticism lacks fairness and claimed that the council is playing into the United States’ hostile policies toward the North.

The statement said the North had issued various peaceful proposals from the beginning of the year but the U.S. and South Korea are carrying out military drills.
 
The statement said the Security Council is looking the other way and is only raising issue with choices the North inevitably had to take, adding that such a move is intolerable.

The statement said the North will further boost efforts to strengthen its nuclear deterrence for self-defense as long as the U.S.’s nuclear threats continue.
