Swimmer Park Tae-hwan Wins 6 Races at National Trials

South Korean swimming star Park Tae-hwan won his sixth race and was named the most valuable player (MVP) at the national team trials for the upcoming Incheon Asian Games.

The South Korean swimmer’s sixth win came in the final of the 400-meter individual medley held in Gimcheon on Monday. Park came in first with a tournament record of four minutes and 23-point-21 seconds.

Park also finished first in the 100, 200 and 400 meter freestyle last week, as well as the 200 meter individual medley. He was also a member of the 800 meter relay team that came in first.

Named MVP of the entire competition, Park says the races gave him the opportunity to work on some problems as he prepares for the Asian Games this fall.

He will fly to Australia on July 30 to continue training.
