The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and shipping companies have begun to monitor shipping in the Middle East in an effort to formulate emergency measures in case of a war in the region. Ministry officials said a joint team has been set up with Korea Shipowners Association, shipping firms and the Korea Maritime Institute to verify the situation in the Middle East on a daily basis.
