N. Korea Says UNSC's Condemnation on Missile Launches is Unfair

North Korea’s Permanent Mission to the UN has submitted a letter to the world body raising issue with the UN Security Council’s denouncement of the North’s latest launch of short-range missiles.

In the letter presented under the name of North Korea’s Ambassador to the UN Ja Song-nam, the North said it is unfair for the UN to denounce the North’s launch of short-range missiles. It added the North was only exercising its right of self-defense.

The statement also claimed the UN is turning a blind eye to the joint South Korea-U.S. military exercises, which it said are aimed at the North.

Last Thursday, the Security Council issued a statement condemning the North’s ballistic missile launches, saying the three rounds of Scud short-range missiles fired last month and this month are violations of council resolutions. It then urged the North to fully comply with the relevant resolutions.
