Hanjin Chairman Tapped for Pyeongchang Olympics Committee Head

Hanjin Group Chairman Cho Yang-ho has been said to have been chosen as the new head of the organizing committee for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

A high-ranking official of Hanjin Group said Cho had initially declined to take the position due to company matters, but later changed his mind after feeling responsible for the success of the national event.

Cho had been the head of the bidding committee for the Pyeongchang Olympics since September 2009, playing a significant role in bringing the games to South Korea.

Former provincial governor Kim Jin-sun resigned from the position as chief of the organizing committee on July 21.
