New KBS Chief Takes Office

New chief of KBS Cho Dae-hyun was sworn in Monday morning in a ceremony at KBS headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.

In the inauguration, the 21st president of the nation's largest public broadcaster laid out five visions for the management of KBS. The list includes preventing corporate deficit, putting an end to the controversy over fair broadcast, and restoring authority to personnel appointments.

Cho said KBS programming will change dramatically from the first of January and vowed to showcase the desirable role of a public broadcaster.

The former KBS vice president first joined the company as a producer in 1978. He held various positions including vice president of KBS and president of KBSMedia, the broadcaster's content distributing unit.
