Seoul Has No Intent to Offer Talks on Pyongyang's Participation in Asiad

The South Korean government says it has no plan to propose resuming inter-Korean working-level talks on North Korea’s participation in the Incheon Asian Games.

A unification ministry official said Tuesday that for now, Seoul will wait to determine Pyongyang’s attitude, as the North unilaterally declared the failure of the previous meeting and walked out.

The two Koreas held working-level talks on July 17 to discuss the participation of North Korean athletes and the cheering squad for the Asian Games.

But the two sides failed to reach an agreement on expenses and the use of the North Korean flag among other sticking points, and parted without scheduling a follow-up meeting.
