South Korea’s Unification Ministry says that North Korea will on Wednesday return the body of a South Korean man found off the North’s western coast.

The North's Red Cross informed Seoul on Tuesday morning through the Panmunjeom liaison office that it had discovered the body in the waters near Ongjin county, South Hwanghae Province.

The ministry said that the North notified that based on a driver's license found on the body, the man is believed to be a South Korean resident.

The ministry notified Pyongyang on Tuesday afternoon that it will take over the body Wednesday morning at the truce village of Panmunjeom.

The driver's license and a resident registration card found with the body, appear to identify the man as a 61-year-old resident, who reportedly went missing on June 24 after he went fishing on a boat from South Korea's western port city of Incheon.
