'Roaring Currents' Expected to Top 10 Million Viewers Sunday

The Korean blockbuster film 'Roaring Currents' has broken yet another record, reaching the eight million ticket sales mark faster than any other film in Korean cinematic history.

The distributor CJ Entertainment said the period drama has grossed eight million 147 thousand viewers in just 10 days since its release. This is six days faster than the previous record set by 'The Thieves'.

Citing ticket reservations for the weekend reaching 460 thousand, the industry expects the ten-million mark will be surpassed sometime around Sunday morning.

There have been seven Korean films that have sold more than ten million tickets to date. Those include 'The Thieves', 'Gwanghae - Masquerade' and 'Miracle in Cell Number 7'.
