A pro-North Korean newspaper based in Japan says North Korea’s recent string of missile launches is part of a tactic aimed at changing the U.S. policy toward the North.
The Choson Sinbo said in a report on Saturday that the North Korean strategy demands that the U.S. act first.
The report added North Korea will continue to strengthen its nuclear program and ballistic missile drills, as long as the U.S. remains hostile and maintains its nuclear threats.
The paper also said while North Korea's previous launch of a long-range rocket was for scientific purposes, the recent missile firings were for military uses. The North added it would not be stopped unless the U.S. changes its military policy.
The report said if joint military drills cannot be abandoned by the U.S. and South Korea, they should be carried out beyond Korean territory.
The Choson Sinbo said the recent comment made by Hwang Pyong So, director of the Korean People's Army General Political Bureau, was a message that Washington should drop its hostile policy "before it is too late."
Hwang had said July 27 during North Korea’s Victory Day that the North would launch nuclear missiles at the White House and the Pentagon if Washington continues to make nuclear threats against Pyongyang.
