A park dedicated to Danish author Hans Christian Andersen will be created in Seoul.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on Tuesday that Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon visited Odense, Denmark’s third largest city, on Monday and signed a memorandum of understanding with Odense Mayor Anker Boye on building the fairy tale park in Seoul.

Anderson was born in Odense, which has now become a famous tourist destination.

In line with the accord, the park in Seoul will feature sculptures of fairy tale characters in Andersen’s books, a sculpture of Andersen, a fairy tale town and rides for children.

Andersen wrote more than 160 fairy tales, including “The Little Mermaid,” “The Ugly Duckling” and “The Snow Queen.”
