Asiad Flames Combined to Start Relay in Korea

The flame for the Incheon Asian Games will soon make its way across South Korea.

The organizing committee for the games combined a torch lit in New Delhi, India with a torch lit in South Korea’s Mani Mountain in Ganghwa during a ceremony in Incheon at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

After the ceremony, the torch relay began with South Korean actress Lee Si-young as the first torchbearer. The flame will be carried across some 57-hundred kilometers, traveling through 70 cities, counties and districts nationwide. It will arrive at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Incheon on September 19.

The sports event is set to run through October 4.
