Pope Francis will arrive in South Korea Thursday morning.
His five day trip will be the third papal visit to Korea following visits by Pope Saint John Paul II in 1984 and 1989.
During his stay, Pope Francis will preside over multiple Masses, including a beatification Mass in downtown Seoul and a Mass at the Asian Youth Day event in Daejeon.
He will also meet with family members of the victims of the Sewol ferry disaster, as well as elderly Korean victims of Japan's wartime sex slavery.
The pontiff will deliver a message calling for peace in Asia and the reconciliation of the two Koreas. He will also pray for the youth in Korea and the socially marginalized.
President Park Geun-hye will personally greet the pope when he arrives Thursday morning at Seoul Air Base.
The pope will attend an official welcoming at the presidential office and speak to government officials on Thursday afternoon.
He will then conclude his first day in Korea by meeting with bishops and staff members of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea.
