Anchor: On his second day in South Korea, Pope Francis officiated a Mass celebrating the feast day of the Assumption of Virgin Mary in the city of Daejeon. Before the Mass, the pontiff met with survivors and families of the victims of the Sewol ferry sinking.

Report: Pope Francis led a Mass in Daejeon city on Friday, marking the feast day of the Assumption of Mary.
During the Mass with about 50-thousand Catholics, the pontiff said that to gain true freedom, people must be free of infinite competition and materialism.

"I hope people will reject inhumane economic models that marginalize laborers and create a new form of poverty."
Pope Francis also delivered his Angelus prayer in English, saying he entrusts the souls of the Sewol ferry victims and those who are still suffering from the tragedy to the Holy Mother.
Before holding the mass, the pope met with ten survivors and family members of Sewol victims and consoled their pained hearts.
Pope Francis traveled to Daejeon Friday morning onboard the KTX, the country’s high-speed train. He was initially expected to travel to the city by helicopter.
For security, passengers were not admitted to three executive compartments directly connected to where the pope was seated. Still, some 500 passengers were in the regular cabins and traveled to Daejeon in the same train with the pope.
The pontiff traveled in a Kia Soul from the train station to Daejeon World Cup Stadium. He then arrived at the Mass in an open-topped, white colored vehicle that was remodeled from a Korean made SUV.
After a luncheon with key participants of the Asian Youth Day event, Pope Francis headed to Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province to meet with some six-thousand young Catholics from Asia at the birthplace of Father Andrew Kim Tae-gon, Korea’s first Catholic priest.
