Park Touts Inter-Korean Projects

President Park Geun-hye says that she hopes North Korea will positively respond to her proposal for inter-Korean joint projects made during her Liberation Day speech.

In a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Park said that the two Koreas should start from feasible, small projects in order to build mutual trust and move towards the path of reunification.

The president also noted that she urged Japan to take proper measures for victims of its wartime sexual slavery and proposed a nuclear safety framework led by South Korea, China and Japan during her speech. The president then instructed related ministries to prepare measures to follow up on the moves.

In addition, Park ordered the government to make thorough preparations to prevent accidents at facilities used by many people, with safety-related bills still pending at the National Assembly.

The president also called for increased efforts to promote traditional markets and prevent delayed payment of wages ahead of the Chuseok holidays.
