14th Pyongyang Int’l Film Festival to Open in September

Radio Free Asia says North Korea will host an international film festival in Pyongyang next month.
 
This year’s Pyongyang International Film Festival will be held from September 17 to 24 under the theme of independence, peace and friendship.
 
The event will host feature films, short films, documentaries, special and informative screenings and film exchanges.
 
Awards will be given to the best director, leading actors, screenplay writer and sound editor.
 
Movie directors and industry figures from Australia, France, Canada, China, Iran, Pakistan and Britain will participate in the North Korean film festival. Foreign movies like “Bend It Like Beckham” and “Bride & Prejudice” will also be screened at the event.
 
Launched in 1987, the Pyongyang International Film Festival is held in September every two years.
