Film Council to Promote Korean Movies in Mexico

The Korean Film Council will hold an event in Mexico next week to promote South Korean films in Latin America.

The council said Wednesday that in cooperation with the Korean Cultural Center in Mexico, the event will be held in Mexico City from August 27th through 30th.

The event will feature a Korean film program and a forum on cooperation between South Korea and Mexico in the film industry.

Mexico is the largest movie market in Latin America, with the number of moviegoers reaching 257 million and ticket sales marking 932 million U.S. dollars in 2013.

Mexico is considered a new market for South Korean films amid the rising popularity of Korean pop culture there.
