'Roaring Currents' Earns $560,000 in US in 3 Days

The box office record-setting Korean movie "Roaring Currents" has earned over 562-thousand dollars in ticket sales in North America in just three days.

The film's distributor CJ Entertainment said Wednesday that the movie has had the best first-week performance of all Korean films it has directly distributed in the North American market.

“Roaring Currents” broke the previous record set by the 2012 film "Masquerade," which earned some 133-thousand-400 dollars in three days.

The distributor says that given its current pace, the film is most likely to top the number of ticket sales "Masquerade" held in North America with some 923-thousand-400 dollars.

The period action flick about legendary admiral Yi Sun-shin's stunning victory against Japanese invaders in 1597 has opened in 30 theaters in North America, including in New York, Seattle and Virginia.
