Seventy-seven Buddhist relics from the nation’s Goryeo dynasty have been found in Dobong-gu in northern Seoul.

The Cultural Heritage Administration and the Seoul Institute of Cultural Heritage found a bronze cauldron at a site where a private Confucian academy was once located during the Joseon era. The site had housed a Buddhist temple during the preceding Goryeo period.

The bronze cauldron contained Buddhist relics like ritual objects, incense burners and bowls.

The Cultural Heritage Administration believes that some of the relics are as worthy and valuable as national treasures with their unique and sophisticated styles.

The Goryeo dynasty lasted in Korea from A.D. 918 to 1392.
