Slots Filled for Korean Football Team Rivals in Asiad’s Group A

The Korean national football team will play against Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Laos at the group stage during the Incheon Asian Games.

The three countries were chosen to fill the remaining slots in Group A during a group stage drawing event held Thursday at Harbor Park Hotel in Incheon. Korea was earlier given the top seed in Group A, as the host of the quadrennial sporting event.

Korea will first match up against Malaysia at Munhak Stadium in Incheon on September 14. It will then play against Saudi Arabia at Wa Stadium in Ansan on September 17 and Laos at Hwaseong Sports Complex on September 21.

If Korea gets past the group stage, it will play the winner or the runner-up of Group B in the Round of 16. Teams paired in Group B include Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

On the women’s side, Korea will play against Thailand, India and the Maldives in Group A.
