Film Festival for People with Disabilities Opens in Seoul

A film festival for people with disabilities will open this weekend at an arboretum in Seoul.

The festival titled "The Movie Reading Garden" will open Saturday and continue through September 20 at the Pureun Arboretum in Seoul's Guro district.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government will highlight the traits of the park in the festival, as buildings in the arboretum are barrier free and walking paths are flat.

Seoul city says the festival will screen movies with subtitles and verbal commentaries for viewers with impaired eyesight or hearing.

Officials say the city government will also run a film school for 15 students from the special needs St. Peter's School near the arboretum. The film school will utilize smartphones in its program which runs through November.
