The funeral ceremony for four South Korean soldiers who died after being swept away by heavy current in East Timor was held at the National Cemetery on Monday. Prime Minister Goh Kun and Defense Minister Cho Young-kil were among the one thousand people who participated in the ceremony organized by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. All four soldiers had their ranks posthumously promoted by one notch and were awarded the samil medal of honor. Their remains will be buried at the Daejeon Cemetery on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, the office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said search efforts are continuing for the one Korean soldier still missing from the accident. On March 6th, the four soldiers were killed after being swept away by strong currents caused by heavy rainfall.
