South Korean poet Ko Un has received the Golden Wreath Award in Struga, Macedonia.
 
The award ceremony was held on Sunday, local time, as part of an international poetry festival annually held there. 
 
The 81-year-old poet said in an acceptance speech that he hopes the spirit of poetry will spread across the continents of the world like the Drim River that flows into the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, the Indian and the Pacific Oceans.
 
Established in 1966, the Golden Wreath Award has been given to internationally renowned poets like Pablo Neruda, Léopold Sédar Senghor and Allen Ginsberg.
