Anchor: A KBS TV show which aired last year will be remade by CBS in the United States. Our Kim Soyon has more on the remake deal of the hit series "Good Doctor."
Report: KBS said Friday that the U.S. version of "Good Doctor" would be the first case of a Korean drama aired on a terrestrial channel to be remade by a major U.S. network.
While the CBS Studio Center will oversee the general production, the series will be produced by 3AD and EnterMedia.
3AD was founded by Korean American actor Daniel Dae Kim who's known mostly for his roles in "Lost" and "Hawaii Five-0."
The author of the U.S. script will be Adele Lim, a producer and showrunner of the 2014 U.S. TV series "Star-Crossed."
Starting with this deal, KBS will seek to export more dramas for remake.
Good Doctor is the story of a man with a mental disability who displayed symptoms of savant syndrome, eventually becoming a brilliant pediatrician. The show starring actor Joo Won and actress Moon Chae-won topped 20 percent in viewer ratings in Korea last year.
The remake will be set at a teaching hospital in Boston. It's scheduled to be aired some time next year or in 2016.
