Athletes for Incheon Asian Para Games Vow Top 2 finish

Team Korea in the 2014 Incheon Asian Para Games vowed to place second or higher in the medal standings in a ceremony held on Friday.

At the ceremony held at a training center for athletes with disabilities in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, Chairman Kim Sung-il of the Korea Paralympic Committee said that the athletes are preparing for the games bearing the pride of being on the national team, despite difficult circumstances.

Kim asked citizens to help them achieve their second place goal by giving their support and showing their interest.

With 50 days left until the para games start in October, South Korea will have 333 athletes and 131 officials take part in all 23 events.

In previous para games, Team Korea ranked second in the medal count in Busan in 2002 and finished third in the games in Kuala Lumpur and Guangzhou in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
