Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has for the first time acknowledged that his country possessed weapons of mass destruction. However, he was quick to add that they were all destroyed years ago. The Iraqi News Agency quoted Hussein as saying that Iraq is willing to join the efforts of eliminating weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East and around the world. He also said his country had fully cooperated with U-N inspectors seeking to verify that Iraq had eliminated its weapons of mass destruction. The Iraqi leader vowed to fight a U.S.-led invasion.
