Seoul urged Pyongyang Friday to respond to the call for a second round of high level inter-Korean talks.
In a statement, the Ministry of Unification called on the North to positively respond to its request for the talks, asking it to join the South in developing inter-Korean relations.
The ministry said the two Koreas need to put their heads together to discuss pending inter-Korean issues, including reunions of families separated by the Korean War, urging the north to bring good news to the families during the Chuseok thanksgiving holiday.
The ministry expressed regret for Pyongyang’s lack of response to this and two previous requests for dialogue.
It said Seoul has no change in stance that it will try to deal with every issue with the North through dialogue, and that the door for dialogue is always open to the North.
The government made the suggestion for more talks on August 11. The North has yet to reject or accept it officially, but made a negative response through its media outlets.
