Report: South Korea aims to win gold medals from the four main professional team sports-- namely baseball, basketball, volleyball and football.
The national baseball team has in its history won three gold medals at the Asian Games, including one in Guangzhou four years ago.
This year on home turf, stars like Choo Shin-soo and Ryu Hyun-jin from Major League Baseball will not participate. But key players from Korea's top league, like Park Byung-ho, will join the fight to win Korea's second straight gold.
In basketball, head coach Yoo Jae-hak is eyeing the country's first Asian Games gold medal in 12 years since it won gold after a come-from-behind victory against formidable China at the games held in Busan in 2002.
In another indoor sport, Korea won dramatic volleyball gold in Doha, Qatar in 2006, pulling itself out of a period of relative mediocrity. Now with young stars like Jeon Gwang-in and Song Myung-geun, the team is brimming with confidence.
And in football, Korea is aiming to reclaim its reputation as an Asian soccer powerhouse at the games after failing to win gold medal over the past 28 years.
With dark horses like striker Kim Shin-wook and goalie Kim Seung-gyu, head coach Lee Gwang-jong is confident.

"I am expecting the final match will be against Japan, or Iraq, the UAE or Iran from the Middle East."
Meanwhile, not to be outdone, women’s volleyball, basketball and football teams have also upped the intensity in training ahead of next week’s games all dreaming of gold.
