An office in charge of attracting foreign investment will be installed at an inter-Korean business complex in the North Korean border town of Gaeseong.
An official of the Ministry of Unification said Wednesday that the Assistance Center for Foreign Investment under the Gaeseong Industrial District Management Committee will open its doors on Friday.
Having employees who can speak foreign languages, including English and Chinese, the center will be in charge of promoting the inter-Korean industrial complex and providing a consultancy with foreign investors for a business opportunity at Gaeseong.
The official said the center will provide a one-stop service to foreign companies planning to make inroads into the Gaesong Industrial Complex. It will also try to find potential investors among the foreign companies already operating in South Korea.
The two Koreas agreed to the general principle of globalizing the complex as they agreed to reopen it last year.
Around 20 companies based in the United States, Germany, China and Russia have consulted the South Korean government for potential investment opportunities at Gaeseong.
