KBS TV's Gag Concert to be Remade in China

KBS TV’s popular comedy show, “Gag Concert,” will be remade in China.

KBS announced on Friday that it signed a contract with Dragon TV, a satellite channel of Shanghai Media Group, to jointly produce the popular comedy program for the Chinese audience.

KBS said a production crew from Dragon TV arrived in South Korea on Wednesday for a week-long stay and is watching the production process of Gag Concert.

Dragon TV plans to remake key skits for the Chinese audience. The first show will air in January.

KBS is set to receive earnings from exporting program’s format and joint production, and will also receive a portion of earnings related to viewer ratings.

Gag Concert, one of KBS' flagship entertainment shows, was first aired in 1999 and is the oldest comedy show on South Korean television.
