S. Korea Urges N. Korea to Accept Dialogue Proposal

South Korea’s Unification Ministry has urged North Korea to accept its proposal of high-level inter-Korean talks following the North’s call for an end to sending anti-Pyongyang propaganda leaflets.

The ministry said on Sunday that the Seoul government is faithfully observing an inter-Korean agreement that discusses the possibility of halting all acts of provocation and slander by the two Koreas.

The ministry urged the North to engage in dialogue, saying that all issues should be resolved through talks.

In addition, the ministry said that the Seoul government will sternly counter any military threats by the North.

The North on Saturday called on the South to stop anti-Pyongyang hostile activities, including floating propaganda leaflets via balloons into its territory, before proposing high-level inter-Korean talks.

The North then threatened to make a retaliatory attack on civic groups that float anti-Pyongyang leaflets.
