The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said it found debris of what is presumed to be a small North Korean unmanned aerial vehicle in waters off South Korea’s northwest coast.

The JCS said debris of what appears to be a North Korean drone was caught in a fisherman’s anchor in waters six kilometers west of Baengnyeong Island at around 2:20 p.m. Monday.

The found structure is 80 centimeters long and one meter wide. Its engine and camera are presumed to have been washed away. It has the same ray-like shape of the drone found in Paju earlier in March.

Military authorities plan to send the debris to the Agency for Defense Development for analysis.

North Korean drones were found in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, Baengnyeong Island and Samcheok, Gangwon Province in March and April of this year.

At that time, military authorities concluded after decoding the drones’ GPS data that all three aerial vehicles were programmed to be launched from North Korea and return to the communist state.
