American troops, armored vehicles and trucks are advancing toward the Iraqi border, positioning themselves to invade Iraq. As the troops were moving forward, there were reports of as many as 17 Iraqi soldiers surrendering to both U.S. and Kuwaiti forces. A U.S commander of the headquarters company of the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division told reporters that 15 Iraqis had been taken prisoner and turned over to Kuwaiti authorities. However, a Kuwaiti official said on condition of anonymity that the Iraqis had surrendered to the Kuwaiti military and numbered only three to four.
