The government has invited North Korea to an International Telecommunications Union (ITU) meeting to be held next month in the southern port city of Busan.

Minister of Science, ICT and Future Technology Choi Yang-hee told reporters that if the North decides to attend the ITU meeting, he will actively seek a meeting with his North Korean counterpart on IT issues. 

South Korea will host the 19th International Telecommunications Union Plenipotentiary Conference in Busan from October 20 through November 7.
