North Korea’s Foreign Minister Ri Su-yong has arrived in Moscow for an eleven-day trip.
Ri arrived in Russia on Tuesday shortly after wrapping up his schedule at the UN headquarters in New York. He held talks for around an hour with senior officials of the Russian Foreign Ministry who greeted him at the airport.
On Wednesday, Ri will hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The two officials are expected to discuss bilateral issues as well as ways to resume the stalled six-way nuclear talks and build a regional security system in Northeast Asia. Political situations in Ukraine and the Middle East as well as Iran’s nuclear program are also expected to top discussions.
During his stay in Russia, Ri will meet with senior government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, Agriculture Minister Nikolai Fyodorov and Development of the Russian Far East Minister Alexander Galushka.
Ri is set to visit Russia’s Far East regions, including Amur, Sakhalin, Khabarovsk and Primorsky Krai. He will meet with the government and parliamentary heads in the regions before going back to Pyongyang.
