Seoul is prepared to go 'where no one has gone before' as another Hollywood blockbuster, Star Trek 3, has been confirmed to be filmed in the city.
 
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Wednesday that Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon met Jeffrey Chernov, the producer of Star Trek 3, at the Paramount Pictures studio in Los Angeles on Sunday. The two agreed on filming a portion of Star Trek 3 in Seoul. 
 
Park also met the film’s director, Robert Orci, and explained Seoul’s policy of assisting foreign cinema or TV productions in South Korea’s capital city. 
 
Seoul will provide assistance of up to 100 million won in production fees to an overseas production that films a movie in Seoul for at least six days. It will also pay for the airline tickets and hotel fees for coming to Seoul to find a location to shoot the film. 
 
Star Trek 3 is scheduled to be released in 2016.
