38 North: N. Korea Completes Construction Program in Sohae Launching Station

A North Korea analysis Web site says the communist state has completed a major construction program that had been ongoing since late last year to upgrade the Sohae Satellite Launching Station.

The Web site 38 North, connected to the U.S.-Korea Institute at Johns Hopkins University, based its assessment on commercial satellite imagery taken on September 4.

The report said that North Korea could move forward with another rocket launch at the end of this year. It also noted that a key component of the construction program has been to upgrade an existing launch pad, enabling it to launch rockets larger than the existing Unha-3 space launch vehicle in the future.
