N. Korea Says Nuclear Program Result of US Threats

North Korea’s media says the North’s nuclear program is the result of threats from the U.S., against which it will use all self-defense power to deter.

The North's state-run Korean Central News Agency has criticized Washington for attempting to disarm and overturn the regime by raising issues against North Korea's nuclear program and its human rights situation. The statement was issued from the spokesperson of the foreign ministry and said North Korea would take all measures possible against the U.S.’ hostile policies against Pyongyang.

The statement went on to name U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel, who have shed light on North Korea's nuclear program and human rights affairs.

The North added it would keep to the path it has selected if the U.S. continues to raise problems with Pyongyang's policies and measures.
