The ruling Saenuri Party has expressed hope that the visit by top ranking North Korean officials will not be a one-off event but serve to boost inter-Korean trust, exchange and cooperation and sow the seeds for Korean unification.

In a written briefing Sunday, chief Saenuri spokesman Kim Young-woo said the two Koreas must continue dialogue with sincerity and patience in order to produce a breakthrough in cross-border relations.
 
Kim called on the Seoul government to take this opportunity and exert more active efforts to ease strained inter-Korean ties.
 
He also said that we should not forget that unification is the way for all Korean people to lead happy and safe lives and also contribute to peace in Northeast Asia and around the world.
