North Korea Friday criticized President Park Geun-hye for dampening a reconciliatory mood between the two Koreas.
The North took issue with President Park’s comment during a meeting with Le Luong Minh, secretary general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in which Park said the North is showing an ambivalent attitude.
In a statement, the North’s organ dealing with the South, the National Reconciliation Council, mentioned the recent visit to South Korea by three top North Korean officials and an agreement to hold a second round of high-level inter-Korean talks.
It said Park’s comment is an “unacceptable political provocation” and an “impolite and reckless act," which throws cold water on the mood for dialogue between the two Koreas.
The council also said Park is insulting Pyongyang's sincerity toward dialogue, and warned Seoul to be cautious in its behaviors and words lest it should see a good chance to improve inter-Korean relations go away.
