Korea Post to Suspend International Mail to Middle East

Written: 2003-03-21 00:00:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

The Korea Post has suspended the delivery of mail to the Middle Eastern region beginning Thursday. The state-run postal service said it made the decision due to the reduction of flights to the region and tightening of U.S. mail safety checks in the wake of the war in Iraq. The measure affects the delivery of mail to fourteen countries, including Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Israel. An official said postal service to the United States, Egypt and Turkey will be delayed by two to three days. The Korea Post said that in cases where mail that has already been sent out is returned, it can be picked up at nearby post offices.
