A Korean language contest for people from Arabic-speaking nations will be held Friday.
The event, prepared by Kyung Hee University's Institute of International Education and the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission, aims to harmonize students from Arabic-speaking countries who are studying in Korea and enhance their Korean language abilities.
This year's themes are "My World Cup 2014" and "Cultural Experiences in Korea". Participants can talk about their episodes of cheering in Korea for the World Cup games or aspects of Korean culture they were impressed with while staying in the country.
Of the 50 participants from 10 countries, 15 people from at least five countries will move on to the final round to compete for the top prize.
Kim Jung-sup, Dean of Institute of International Education at Kyung Hee university said the number of Korean language learners from Arabic countries is rising in Korea and he hoped the latest contest will help further improve their Korean language skills.
The event is sponsored by National Institute for International Education and Kyung Hee University's external cooperation team.
