US-led forces launch massive air campaign over Iraq

U.S. led coalition forces have started a devastating air campaign in the skies over Iraq.

US forces dropped a number of bombs in the capital Baghdad in its "shock and awe" campaign that began around 9 pm Baghdad time on Friday.

As the war enters its third day, there are indications that Iraqi leadership is now in disarray.

Live television from Baghdad Friday night showed key buildings in the Iraqi capital exploding and burning. But the lights in Baghdad remained on, a possible indication that the bombing was deliberately avoiding civilian infrastructure and attempting to limit collateral damage.

At the same time, thousands of U.S. and British ground troops are pushing toward Iraq.

Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Richard Myers said...the U.S. and British ground troops pushed closer to 100 miles inside Iraq.
