VOA:

The Voice of America (VOA) has reported that North Korea will review its policy toward the United States if Washington continues to press the North’s human rights issue.

The VOA said Tuesday that Jang Il-hun, deputy North Korean ambassador to the United Nations, claimed the U.S. has masterminded a smear campaign to bring about international criticism on the North’s human rights records.

Yet, when asked if North Korea would allow an outside investigator to assess its human rights conditions, Jang said the North could be open to discussing the idea as long as it is handled in a "positive manner."

He also said the North meets with U.S. officials on a regular basis to discuss issues of mutual concern.
