Photo Exhibition on Ethnic Koreans from Sakhalin to be Held

An exhibition of photos on ethnic Koreans forced to move to Russia's Sakhalin during Japan’s colonial rule will be held at the National Assembly in Seoul next month.

A group organizing events to mark the 150th anniversary of the Koreans’ forced relocation to the Russian island will host the exhibition from November 16 to 21.

The exhibition will feature some 40 photos on the lives of the relocated Koreans and the group’s activities.

Some of the exhibits to be put on display were previously featured during a festival held in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, on October 12.

The group will hold a briefing on the closing day of the exhibition to assess its activities. It will also discuss a revision to a special law on the permanent return of ethnic Koreans from Sakhalin.
