95th National Sports Festival Opens in Jeju Island

The 95th National Sports Festival opened on Jeju Island on Tuesday.

About 32-thousand Korean athletes, including star swimmer Park Tae-hwan and badminton player Lee Yong-dae, will compete in 47 sports during the week long festival.

Jeju hosted for the annual sports festival in 1998 and 2002, and this year marks the third time the event is being held there.

KBS is broadcasting the festival's major events, and coverage began with the opening ceremony at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday.
