Russian media has reported that Russia and North Korea have begun discussing the possibility of a visa-free program between the two countries.

Ria Novosti quoted Russia’s Far East Development Minister Alexander Galushka on Tuesday following his return to Russia after a five-day visit to the North.

Galushka said that Russia is considering the possibility of involving workers from North Korea to participate in the development projects in the Far East.

The visa-free regime exempts the visitors from each country from going through the visa issuance procedure and allows them to visit each other’s country within three months. If the two countries introduce the program, it is expected to facilitate more North Koreans to come to Russia to work, while increasing Russian tourists in the North.
